Help Make Beauty Cruelty-Free

Animal testing is an issue in the beauty industry that’s been going on for far too long. This is something I feel strongly about being a lifelong animal lover, and I choose to do my part by purchasing cruelty-free products only.

Although it seems like most countries are on board with the ban of animal testing, the US is actually one of the few remaining countries that hasn’t put a stop to it. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) released an article, “Testing Cosmetics and Household Products on Animals” which announced the banning of animal-tested products and ingredients by the European Union, Israel, and India. This means that companies all around the world will have to leave animal testing behind if they wish to continue selling their products in these major markets.

Wondering how you can help put an end to this? PETA recommends that the best way to stop companies from animal testing is to refuse to purchase their products and write them letters telling them why you won’t be doing so. If no one is buying their products, they will eventually have no choice but to change! Now, I’m going to let you in on a few of my favorite cruelty-free brands and products. 📷

One of my all-time favorite cosmetic brands is Too Faced. Their packaging is adorable, most products are scented and smell heavenly, and the cherry on top of it all is their products are vegan and cruelty-free! This includes everything from eyeshadow to lipstick to make-up brushes. Too Faced indicates their cruelty-free brand by the placement of the pink and white bunny emblem on every product, making it easy for customers to decipher.

Another amazing cosmetic brand that specializes in cruelty-free products is Tarte. They are certified by PETA, and they do not test on animals or sell their products where animal testing is legal. Tarte’s goal is to “combine glamorous makeup with good-for-you ingredients”, and their successes have led them to become leaders in the beauty industry. Personally, my favorite thing about Tarte products is the textures and pigments of products. Some eyeshadows and powders are made with Amazonian clay, which makes for a smooth application that lasts all day.

No matter which brands you gravitate towards, finding ones that are cruelty-free is so so important. It may seem like one person purchasing these products won’t make much of a difference, but if everyone starts having the same mindset, that’s when the changes will be made. So, I’m hoping that if only one reader takes this advice, at least that is one more innocent animal saved.
