Ten Things You Could Put on Your Christmas List

The holidays are right around the corner and if you’re a college kid and aren’t sure what to put on your Christmas list, here are some recommendations. I have thought through some things I’m asking for, or some things I already have that I think other people would love!

1. Sky- Lite $50 on Amazon This light is something that my roommate has had for a while and I just received it for my secret Santa present. The sky-lite reflects cloud and sky patterns on your ceiling/walls with three different brightnesses and three different settings. The light is perfect for nighttime before you go to bed, or even to make a room look cool when your friends are over. They are super portable so you can bring them to and from school. I will definitely be getting my little brother one for his college dorm room.

2. Blue Light Glasses, Prices vary College kids are staring at their laptops for long periods of time now that most of our classes are online. Blue light glasses help prevent eye strain by filtering the light from electronics. They help with headaches and eye tension and you can never have too many pairs. You can get them pretty much anywhere now in many different styles.

3. Second Monitor, Amazon- $160 A portable second monitor would be so great for students on zoom calls. On your second monitor you can put your zoom call, and on your laptop, you can be either taking notes or doing in-class assignments. This is really ideal for any student that does coding as my brother does for his engineering classes and I do for my web design classes. There is a wide variety of portable monitors on the internet, this was one of the more reasonably priced ones. This product would be super useful for all college kids taking their classes online.

4. Sweatpants/ Sweatshirts, Sweatpants $26 Sweatshirt $18 Most college kids have been spending a lot of time in comfy clothes while taking their classes online. I have basically been living in sweatpants and sweatshirts and have been obsessed with Zara’s sets. The monochrome trend is really in right now, so having a matching sweatsuit can still be stylish if you dress it up with some fun shoes and a cute bag. They come in different colors and have versions for guys and girls at affordable prices!

5. Card Games, Prices range but most are around $20 Not being able to go out with your friends this semester has led to a lot of time being spent in dorms/apartments. My roommates and I absolutely love funny adult card games, we collect them. Incohearent is really funny because you speak gibberish words and have to figure out what they sound like, some are really funny words. Bad People is a new one we’ve been playing where you find out what your friends think of you. Cards against humanity and for the girls are other classic games we play. Every weekend we have a few drinks and play card games and they are so much fun!

6. Starbucks/ Dunkins Gift Cards, any price Coffee is the survival fuel for most college students. Most college campuses have one or the other on their campus. This is a perfect stocking stuffer and could be any price range. Downloading the gift cards to the apps on your phone allows for you to get rewards as you purchase coffees. I always ask for a Starbucks gift card to fuel my expensive coffee addiction.

7. 3 in one Charging Stand, $12 Amazon

This charging stand charges your phone, air pods and apple watch all on one stand. This is perfect for keeping all your cords organized and making your desk cleaner. It is so easy to just have this on your nightstand and plug in all your devices at night, as well as keep them all in one place. Most places sell these for a good price, the one below is from Amazon.

8. Yeti Water Bottle, $40 The Rambler 26 oz Bottle with Chug Cap is a great option for college students. Most campuses have refillable water stations around buildings and carrying a water bottle prevents the use of single-use plastic. These water bottles keep your water cold all day. Lots of people love Hydro flasks, but these Yeti Ramblers are much more durable as well as being dishwasher safe, Hydro flasks are not dishwasher safe. You can also spend extra to get your rambler custom engraved with names, initials and various other engravings. These make the perfect custom gifts and come in about 10 different colors.

9. Nike Air Force 1’s, $90 Nike These shoes are the most classic white sneaker on the market. They’re a clean white leather that is easy to clean and match just about any outfit. These sneakers can be dressed up or dressed down, I have even worn mine with dresses before. Though they are a pricier shoe, they’re definitely worth it. They never go out of style and are built to last; I have had my pair for 6 years. Although the white is classic, they also have different colors and patterns if you want a more unique look, I also have black and white air force 1’s and they add such a unique pop to my feet when I wear them. Other classic white sneakers are a great option for a Christmas gift, but these are my go-to pick.

10. Bluetooth Speaker, Price varies Something that all college students love is listening to music. A good Bluetooth speaker that has quality sound and a long-lasting battery is a great gift. There are many quality options on the market, but I recommend one that is more portable. I tend to bring my speaker all over so one that is smaller in size and can fit in my bag is ideal. I often bring mine to my friend’s house for parties, to the beach, to the park, or just in my living room to jam with my roommates. The speaker below is my favorite, it is the JBL Flip 5 and it is a portable waterproof speaker. On their website, it is currently on sale for $70, which is 42% off. This is an awesome deal for a great, long-lasting speaker.
