Finding the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans is not easy. If you’re anything like me, I’ve actually never found a perfect pair at ANY store. When it comes to boyfriend jeans, I’m very picky. I like them tight in all the right areas but of course still loose towards the bottoms. If jean shopping wasn't difficult enough, finding boyfriend jeans that fit right is even harder. They’re just either too baggy or too tight. This is the reason I stopped looking for them and decided to just make some myself. I’ve had a pair of old jeans in my closet that I realized were perfect for creating my own boyfriend jeans. If you don't have your own pair of jeans, then try your local thrift store. Obviously, don't use your brand-new pair of jeans...just in case. So, find those old pair of jeans you forgot you owned and give them a little makeover!
Materials
· Whichever jeans you have in your closet. Or visit your local thrift store to snag a pair!
· Scissors
· Tweezers
· Sandpaper
Step 1: Marking Then Up: First, try on the denim to have an idea of what areas you would like to distress. It's important to mark the areas with chalk or pencil.

Step 2: Distressing The most important step: distressing your denim. If you want big rips around the knees, start with a small snip using your scissors. Then, expand the whole using your scissors as well. A sharp edge is also perfect for creating those frayed edges. You can also rip the hole yourself as it gets bigger. For smaller rips, try using your scissors to create small slits. Finally, take the sandpaper block rough up around the holes. Make as many or as little rips as you want- all depending on your preference!
Step 3: Cuffing the Jeans (optional) This is to make sure that when you roll the jeans, they don’t get too bulky. Cuff them just above your ankle and use a safety pin to hold the cuff in place. Then take the jeans off (don’t try to cut them while they’re still on, I promise you'll regret that.) Finally, cut both hems at the bottom of the cuff. Roll your denim about 2-3 times for the perfect boyfriend jeans. And you’re all done!
Just like that you now have the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans. Cheap and chic, what else could a girl want? This is just another DIY that proves looking cute on a budget, is totally possible.
