When it comes to activities in college it can be hard to find something fun to do that is also inexpensive. Going out to eat, going to museums, or amusement parks can get very expensive. One thing to do around Tampa is going on walks at all the beautiful locations Tampa has to offer. These locations are all near the heart of downtown Tampa and minutes away from the University of Tampa campus.

Going on walks is a very therapeutic activity to do while you're stressed in college. I found that going on long walks helps to calm my anxiety and stress about classes. It is different for everyone, however, walking is not only therapeutic it is also a great way to exercise without going to the crowded school gym.

Stress and anxiety is very prevalent in college students and can really harm your mental health. Taking 20 minutes out of your day to go on a walk and get outside can really help to focus on yourself and bring your mental health to a better place. These 3 locations that will be mentioned are just a few of the places you can go to walk around Tampa.

The first location is located at the Davis Island Yacht Club, there is a beautiful trail to follow that takes you next to the water and amazing homes. There is a cute little dog park and tiny beach at the bottom of the trail as well. This spot is where everyone goes to take all their amazing sunset pictures, plus it is free to go to.

Davis Island is one of the prettiest locations to watch sunsets because it is on the water but very close to the University of Tampa campus, which makes it more covenant to get to. Sunset walks are one of the best things to do as a stressed out college student, going for a sunset walk as a break between projects or studying for a final/midterm. It is also a great place to take your dog for a walk because it is near the water so they can swim and there is a cute little dog park to let them run around at.

The next location is Hyde Park, this is a great location not only to go for walks but for meals and shopping as well. Hyde Park is very beautiful during the holidays because it is all decorated and makes it a great place for pictures. This is more of a place to walk around if you are looking for things to look at. There are stores to go shopping at and it is a great place to sit down for a meal.

Hyde Park also has a fountain, pictured below, that is a great place to sit and just enjoy the calmness of this location. Hyde Park compared to Davis Island is more social and busy when it comes to walks because there are so many stores and restaurants located in Hyde Park it does make it less of a therapeutic walk. Walking around Hyde Park can be a great way to socialize with other students because many UT students go there and making friends is always important at a young age.

The very last location is Bayshore Boulevard, this is a great location to go for walks because the trail is 4.5 miles long. It starts in the heart of downtown Tampa and stretches all the way out to South Tampa. Bayshore Boulevard is also known for its extravagant houses that run along the path, but not only that Bayshore also has beautiful views on the bay and downtown Tampa. The first picture above shows the views of the bay and downtown Tampa on a beautiful day during my walk.

Bayshore Boulevard also has a few spots along the way to stop and exercise by using the bars and other exercise amenities that are given along the way. You cannot only walk but you can also run, scooter, blade, or go for a bike ride along Bayshore Boulevard. This is a great spot to really get to know the Tampa area and focus on yourself.

Bayshore Boulevard is a very great spot to really get into the Tampa Bay area and take in how amazing this area really is, it is also free to walk along as well. One of the great things about Bayshore is that you can walk to it from the University of Tampa campus and do not need to drive there. Compared to Hyde Park and Davis Island, Bayshore is closer to campus and does not involve you to drive to get to it. This can come in handy when you are burning out from your homework and need a break, you can take 30 minutes out of your day to get up and go outside for a walk.

All these beautiful locations are here for students to go and use for free to get up and get outside in this beautiful weather. Take advantage of the Tampa Bay area and go for a walk in between your assignments to calm your anxiety and stress. It is harder said than done to actually get yourself to go for a walk but once you do, you will not regret it. Bayshore Boulevard, Hyde Park, and Davis Island are only a small fraction of the places to go do fun activities with you and your friends but also to do alone.
