Having an active lifestyle filled with exercise and fitness can have so many benefits for the
casual individual, but to what extent is this true?
Most of us think that going for a walk or going to the gym can only be beneficial to us in the
short term when in reality exercise is known to stimulate the body and produce endorphins that act as mood boosters for the rest of the day. Just simply focusing on the activity you are doing can act as a break from the stresses of life.
“I run many times during the week and I definitely feel like the days that I run are my most
productive,” University of Tampa Senior, Francisco Velasquez said when asked about his
exercise habits.

College students often have bad days amidst the school year usually as a direct result of trying to balance school, work, and social relationships. Having a balance is hard and a reason why many students decide to coast through their first few years of college. For those that are goal-oriented and looking to change their lifestyle, exercise can be the answer.
But how do I find the time? I’m so busy…
Research shows that even average amounts of exercise can make a difference. In fact, you can meaningfully benefit from 30-minutes of moderate activity per day, five times a week according to the JED Foundation. A quick walk, a swim, or a workout at the gym can go a long way toward improving your well-being.
And how do I get started?
The first step is to develop an exercise routine and schedule that works for you. If your class starts at noon, then try waking up at 10 a.m. and fitting in some regular exercise. If you have a regular lunch hour, try walking or hitting the gym during that break.
A common misconception is that you have to do it all by yourself. While you have to be the one to set personal goals and hold yourself accountable, exercising with a friend can make the process very enjoyable. You can push each other’s limits and have an overall positive influence on one another.
So, get out there, be out and about and just move for 30 minutes or more a day and you can bet you’ll find yourself with more energy, drive, and motivation…ready to conquer and Full Send the day.
