Get tatted this Friday the 13th in Tampa

This week is a very special week. Not only is it the last palindrome week of the century (9/10/19, 9/11/19, 9/12/19, 9/13/19, 9/14/19, 9/15/19, 9/16/19, 9/17/19, 9/18/19, 9/19/19), it’s the first Friday the 13th of 2019, there’s another one in December too. To make it even better, this Friday is also a full moon; this is a crazy week, to say the least.

Friday the 13th comes with a few perks, one being the $13 tattoos at a majority of tattoo parlors across the country. I love this day and will definitely be participating in this event by getting some ink myself. Getting a tattoo was actually one of the first things Mr. Independent did when he came to college (and a nose ring but that’s a story for a different day). Now I have five tattoos on my body. All small and easy to hide, some with meaning, some without.

That’s what Friday the 13th is all about! Those small, meaningless, spur of the moment tattoos that make you feel like a badass. Luckily here in Tampa, we have Ybor district where you can find several tattoo parlors located all on one strip. Like with anything there’s always a catch. A lot of places will do these $13 tattoos or piercings (a $7 tip is the norm) but you usually have to pick from sheets that have various small, random designs and images. For example, my first Friday the 13th tattoo experience happened two years ago in Ybor at InkSpot where I got a small outline of an alien on the inside of my left arm. Super random and now I just say, “It’s for my beliefs,” when people decide to ask about it. That’s the fun of it though. You don’t know what you’re going to get until you get there and pick from random sheets.

Some places may let you create your own design if it’s simple, small, and less than a half dollar size. I’ll post a bunch of different links to multiple locations where Friday the 13th deals are recognized. However, I’ve learned that it is best to just browse the day of, even if you’re unsure of getting a tattoo for certain because a lot of places won’t release the sheets until the day of or day before the 13th. My advice, just go for it! Who cares what anyone thinks, even your parents, they don’t have to see it. Just make sure to use cash so they can’t see your bank statement on your debit card at some random tattoo parlor.
