Staying active and smart with technology.

New innovations in Apple's smart watches raise the bar drastically. The Apple Watch Series 5 was introduced to the public yesterday, September 10, 2019, at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino, California.


This device contains many useful features that should be shared for those looking to merge technology with a healthier lifestyle tracking device. Multiple features will be highlighted in this article.


Menstrual Tracking


Apple has added a new feature that allows women to track their mentrual cycles from the watch. There are already apps on Apple's app store such as Clue and Pink Pad, that also track menstrual cycles. With less storage used on your iPhone, the Apple Watch can replace all period apps. As a woman, it is important to know when Aunt Flo might be showing up, you are able to dress and prepare for the occasion with a peace of mind. Tracking your period helps women stay mindful when they're in their fertile window of ovulation, reducing the chance for unwanted pregnancy. Smart tracking will alleviate excessive stress when keeping tabs on Aunt Flo's unexpected arrivals.


ECP App


The ECG (electrocardiogram) app allows for users to monitor their own heart rhythm in any environment. A news story was released to the public May 2, 2018, when an 18-year-old girl from Tampa, Florida was awaken from her sleep by her own Apple watch. The ECG monitor detected abnormal rates, and she was rushed to the emergency room and promptly diagnosed with chronic kidney disorder.



Noise Tracking


With all of the daily distractions we have to disrupt our senses and overall chi, the watch offers decibel tracking in the Noise app. The app will send you alerts when the decibel levels are too high and can impact your hearing in the long-run. It is important to meditate daily in order to balance the unconscious emotions and thoughts we let enter our minds. With features that can alert us when the noise levels are rising, we are able to remove ourselves from aa chaotic environment into a more secluded and peaceful one.


Sleep Tracking


This is not the end of the many great benefits Apple's series 5 watch offer us, but it is the last one being mentioned in this blog. The device monitors sleep cycles overtime. The watch can be set up to monitor your cycles automatically, or manually, when you wear the watch to sleep. Every morning, you will receive stats of your sleep cycle. If you need a grip on your insomnia, this might be the app for you. Be sure to check out all of the other features offered on Apple's website.
