Full send to a full life

“Full send” is something most commonly yelled prior to a frat boy hurling himself off the roof onto the plastic table below but, it can mean a multitude of other things. Full send is the notion or excuse to simple do something, didn’t study for the midterm? Full send. Nervous to make the first move on the crush you’ve had since first semester? Full send. We all have something to learn from said frat boy, he may not being doing anything we see as worthwhile but, he is doing exactly what he wants and he’s doing it to the extreme.

To me full send means doing something that strays from your set routine or safety net. To do something “full send” is to exit your comfort zone quick enough to not make a list of the possible consequences. As typical as it sounds I believe full send is the modern equivalent to live life to it’s fullest. A message that’s taken the form of Y.O.L.O and others over the year but remained consistent to the same value.

This is a theme I think everyone should apply to their life, not necessarily meaning you dedicate your Saturday’s to readily jumping off roofs. I am choosing to adapt full send as a reminder to live more freely in my everyday life.

My life revolves around school and work as top priorities along with myself. I make time for those I care about like my friends and family but I think there is more room to let myself relax than I care to admit. The aspects of my life where I hold success are the ones that revolve around my routine and ability to not waste energy other places.

I find I take myself so seriously because I felt that I had to grow up quickly and I don’t have an interest in most of the things my direct peers are interested in. I look at my life through a filter of efficiency and/or happiness. Because most of my days are spent on a tight routine especially through the school year I have come to really value my down time. But, by the time I get around to having down time I’m usually too worn out to do anything other than rest or relax.

This semester things have become more solidified, as if my goals have finally become clear. I know now that this too is a balance, my mother always told me, “work hard so you can play hard”. I think this goes back to the meaning of full send because full send can mean to focus and finish that extra credit paper to do everything in my power to do my best. It can also then mean to full send into reading a good book or taking a nap as a reward.

Full send is to live in the moment and dedicate my focus towards whatever that moment needs. This means knowing when to take a break and go out with friends to celebrate the victories or to just have fun. It also means knowing that sitting down at my desk and working on a paper for four hours straight will be worth it in the long run. To me, full send means doing what needs to be done and living in the moment and that’s exactly what I’m going to work on next semester.
