Assuming you are like most people in the world, the pandemic had to have completely thrown your life for a loop. Saying motivated and focused on your goals in life can be extremely difficult when a pandemic as intense as COVID-19 hits you. Staying safe during COVID-19 is not difficult when you know how to do so. I have some helpful tips on keeping in shape during the COVID-19 pandemic and I think those who have lost their motivation to work out will agree.
Tip #1 - Get outside as much as possible. Getting fresh air and simply getting out of the house are easy remedies to keep up your mental health. Good mental health is extremely important during a time like this because mental health will motivate you to get active.
Tip #2 - Workout at a time that is right for you. If you know you’re an early-bird, try to workout in the mornings to start your days right and keep up that energy that you typically have in the mornings. On the other hand, if you’re not a morning person, workout in the middle of the day or in the evenings. The one thing you do not want to do is to try to force yourself to workout at times in the days that you know you won’t want to. By getting active at times in the days that work best for you, it will make working out more enjoyable, which will ultimately help you keep up with it.
Tip #3 - Keep your workouts interesting. If you like taking exercise classes the most, you can still continue to do so, while staying safe during the pandemic! So many people teach workout classes through zoom and by joining these classes you have the ability to workout with no risk of getting the virus. If you like working out alone, change up your workouts. Maybe one day you do an at-home workout and the next you go for a run outside. Continuous change in your workout schedule will make it more enjoyable.
Tip #4 - Try something new. Get outside as much as possible whether that be walking to your local coffee shop, going rollerblading to the river, taking a bike ride to campus. Any way to get active is great for your mental and physical health.
